A similar sense of collective buzz traverses into global entertainment. Michael Jacksons new biographical film Michael(2026) has recently flooded everyone’s explore pages on all social media; it shares the life and rise of the legendary musician from his childhood in the Jackson 5, to his global superstar peak in the 80s. In sport, high drama is being delivered in football. With the threat of relegation creating looming tensions across the fans and the club, Tottenham Hotspur are facing a challenging period. See you in the next session, delegates!
Event of the Month: TIMUN 2026
April’s Event of the Month award goes to none other than the TIMUN 2026, a three-day conference that combined high-quality debating with an engaging social program. Over the course of three well-organized days, delegates from different backgrounds were provided with a space that stimulated United Nations Committees, in which they could debate and negotiate pressing problems, and enhance their diplomatic and public speaking skills. With a wide range of committees available, ranging from beginner to advanced levels, and even featuring a high school committee, the conference was open to everyone.
Beyond the formal sessions, TIMUN 2026 allowed the delegates from different committees to network and meet like-minded students in a relaxed and friendly setting. Two memorable social events added to the experience: a cozy cinema night, giving delegates a chance to unwind and recharge, and a lively pub crawl organized in collaboration with ESN Tilburg. This not only introduced participants to the best of Tilburg’s nightlife but also helped spark lasting friendships, making TIMUN 2026 an event to remember.

What to expect in May:

Meet our Members:
Amber Oonincx:
(second year Global Law Bachelor)
1) You started your MUN journey at the beginning of this semester, so far how do you like it and what made you join TiMUN?
I absolutely love it, it has been so much fun and such an interesting and unique experience. I joined MUN because of the people and how they spoke about it.
2) Considering the immense amount of progress we have seen from your first to your latest speech, could you tell me what specifically motivated/encouraged you to attend regularly and what your favorite element of the overall TiMUN experience is, and what you are looking forward to from our upcoming planned events?
The first time I joined, I was absolutely amazed by how people were presenting countries. I am really unsure about my public speaking and it felt like a community that was so accepting, therefore I wanted to try and challenge myself. I think my favourite element about the TiMUN experience is the acceptance and enjoyment that everyone experiences within in workshops but also social events. I am looking forward to get to know more people and to further develop myself academically within MUN question
3) Do you think that TiMUN has helped you to be more confident when speaking publicly or has helped you in your studies/professional aspirations?
It has made me so much more confident with public speaking, but also with quick thinking when it comes to a challenging topic. It also helps me with negotiations and defending opposing sides, which is very helpful in a law program.
Simeon Velkov:
(First Year Economic Bachelor)
1) You joined TiMUN in the beginning of the study year. Considering this, could you tell how you like it so far, how committee work is going and whether the experience of being part of TiMUN has been able to match your expectations?
I am ecstatic to be part of this society, not just because of the weekly gatherings that I get to be a part of and immerse myself into, but I have also met some really intelligent colleagues, and I am extraordinarily grateful to be working alongside them, not only during our general sessions, but also in the Academics Committee, where everyone shares their own perspective on how we can provide a better experience for both newcomers and veterans. If I could go back in time, when I was skeptical of whether I could balance this with my studies, I would not have second-guessed myself - I absolutely do not regret becoming a member of this society.
2) Since you were delegate of the month for February, could you tell more about how you prepare for our debating sessions, and whether attending said sessions has helped you improve your public speaking skills?
I feel honored to have been recognized and I am very thankful for that. Personally, when researching a position, I try to imagine myself as the actual delegate/person that would attend a UN session: what ideas do I represent, how is my country viewed by the others, who are my allies, my enemies? The important factor is that you do not necessarily have to agree with these views, you just have to represent them. Everything else comes together on its own. I believe that this approach definitely helps with public speaking - not only do you build confidence, but you also gain an insight on how the person on the other side thinks. That is a crucial factor to keep in mind when it comes to debating.
3) What do you think is the best part of being a TiMUN Member? Weekly sessions, conferences, academic/professional opportunities, social events, or maybe even all of the mentioned elements?
For me, it is a blend of everything! The weekly sessions help me wind down after a tough week of lectures and tutorials, spending time at social events allow me to get to know everyone in a more personal way, and at conferences and professional events I meet people from all around the world, everyone with their own story to tell. These types of interactions are especially vital for any university student - one ought to have such connections, especially if they consider a career in international relations. For an Economics student such as myself, I am confident these skills will help me with negotiations with other businesses. But I think this extends to students in all fields, not just my own; communication is an important skill to have, and this society is an excellent playing field to practice on.

Delegate of the Month:
Meet our Delegate of the month: Daniil Evdokimov.
He is new to MUN and only recently started coming to our Weekly Workshops. From the start, he always spoke up and delivered thoughtful speeches which allows contributed and shaped the debate in a meaningful manner. However, what truly stands out is his progress. It is clear that each time he comes to a workshop he gains more confidence and willingness to contribute.
